Have you ever had a bad gut feeling about a person or situation? Why is that?
In self-defense, intuition is our strongest ally and first line of defense. It's that gut feeling we get when something doesn't feel right.
We all experience this to some extent, but how often do we truly explore the concept of intuition?
Gavin de Becker defines intuition as "knowing without knowing why." He emphasizes that intuition is a powerful, innate ability designed to protect us.
Intuition is your natural warning system. If you ever feel uneasy or sense danger, it's important to listen to those feelings. Often, your subconscious picks up on subtle cues that your conscious mind might miss. These could be odd behaviors, unusual surroundings, or simply a sense that something is off. As we observe our environment and the people in it, we constantly process patterns of normality. If something seems weird or "off," there's a good chance we're detecting something outside the usual pattern. This is where our unconscious mind processes before our conscious mind has a chance to, which we call intuition.
